Teaching Philosophy
I believe everyone has creativeness in them. Even the person whose left side of the brain is more active which is responsible for tasks like math and science. I believe a student should be given an idea to play around with in the beginning to be able to make art and after that they can find their own path in what they want to make and what their area of expertise they want to pursue. If we do not give a student the tool to learn, they will never be able to know how to learn and use a tool. If a tool is not given to a painter, they could never learn to draw or paint.
I want to teach art, because I think every child has a creative side in them and it is often not valued and nurtured as much as math or science. I would like to nurture the creativeness in students and teach them how they can solve a problem in other ways rather than having a formula and just going with a set formula. When making art, I would like the students to explore their ideas. I want them to learn sometimes art does not come out the way they have imagined and planed in the beginning. It may be better than what they have imagined or not be the way they wished it would be. With this learning I want them to take it into life and learn, that in life somethings turn out to be better than what we envisioned, somethings not so much. Students need to learn how to solve issues that life does not give them formula for. I believe that as times change the learning abilities of students change. There should be a great relationship between the teacher and the student so the student will be motivated to learn. With this relationship there should be a mutual respect and friendship. There should be regulations how the students behave in the classroom. And students need to feel comfortable to be able to ask their questions. |
